It has a 2x Digital Zoom and 2 Megapixel resolution, can connect to TV and PC and can store up to 500 photos with its internal 256 MB memory. It is also very durable and the casing is very tough which is great for younger kids.

Its really neat and a great option if your child loves Toy Story as they can turn themselves into Buzz Lightyear by adding the various stamps onto the photo. The only downside is its a little bit more expensive than the standard Vtech Kidizoom Camera

While photo quality is important to some its worth understanding that a 5 year old isnt really going to complain about the picture quality - they arent shooting pictures for Time magazine after all. Children will just have fun snapping anything that takes there fancy whether the picture quality at the end is good or not!

Out of the three childrens digital camera the Lego Camera is going to take the biggest pictures as it has a 3 Megapixel resolution compared to 2 Megapixels for the Vtech and 1.3 Megapixels for the Fisherprice Tough Kids Camera.

Fisher Price Tough Kids Camera Test Shot

First up the Fisherprice Tough Kids Camera - this camera is the lowest resolution of 1.3 Megapixels which allows it to take pictures in a 640 x 480 resolution, the same resolution as 6 x 4 print offs from the photo store.

The size above is the full size of the picture and what you will see when you print it out to a 6 x 4 digital print off. The image quality is low and grainy but its not horrible and has don't well to capture active kids jumping around on a bouncy castle. Considering its the lowest resolution camera for children it didn't do too badly. Vtech Kidizoom Childrens Digital Camera Test Shot

Next up we have the Vtech Kidizoom Childrens Digital Camera - it has a higher resolution than the Fisher Price alternative at 2 Megapixels compared to the Fisher Price 1.3 MP. As you can see from the image below the quality is better and the image produced will be bigger.

As you an see from the above image the Vtech has a slightly better image and it is less grainy than the Fisher Price - although there is not too much difference the Vtech costs only £33.76 from Amazon so when you compare the image quality and the cheaper price it is, in our opinion a much better option. Although it is maybe not so tough it is ideal for children who have passed that toddler stage and likely to look after their toys better.

Lego Childrens Digital Camera

The Lego children's digital camera has the highest output resolution of 3 Megapixels and its quit evident when compared to the other two (see below for the test picture). Picture quality is better and the images are much larger. This quality does come at a cost - the cheapest price of the Lego camera is £59.99 from Amazon.co.uk it is tough though and a really well made camera as you would expect from such a reputable brand such as Lego.

As you can see from the above shot its again better quality than the previous two - the image above is a 640 x 480 portrait size (the same size as the images above) but if you click on the picture you can see it in its full size.

Summary

With all things considered each Camera has its positives and negatives and while it is good to compare the image quality for each item it really wont make any difference to the child using it! They will just be happy to have free reign of a camera taking shots of anything and everything, while you will be happy they arnt going to break your expensive digital camera!

The only downsides to the Fisher Price Kids Tough Camera are that it is not the cheapest option available, it is quite big and bulky and the image quality is poorer than the other Children's Digital Cameras.

The Vtech Kidizoom Plus is a great childrens digital camera it has a 2 Megapixel resolution, 2x Digital Zoom, 256 MB of storage (up to 500 photos), an SD Card slot for memory expansion and a built in flash. It can also record videos and has 5 built in games for your kids to enjoy and have fun with! It connects to the TV so your child can show you his or her picture creations.

It looks a lot more grown up than the Fisher Price Tough digital camera and has a lot more features, however it is not quite so robust although it can still take plenty of damage. The Vtech Camera is aimed at preschool and younger school kids and it shows with the design and all the features. Whats more the Camera is the cheapest option over both the Fisher Price camera and Lego camera!

Lego Childrens Digital Camera

The Lego Childrens Digital Camera offers the highest resolution to other childrens digital cameras with a 3 Megapixel output so the pictures are much better quality than its competitors. It has a 4x Digital zoom which again is much better than any other childrens digital camera and it can hold between 80 and 100 pictures in its 128Mb internal memory. The best thing though is that it has its on internal rechargeable battery so you dont need to shell out even more money for AA batteries and it charges up really quickly.

This is a must buy for any Lego enthusiast as it looks like its made out of Lego blocks but also at the top and bottom of the camera you can actually add your own Lego and come up with some crazy designs for your camera.

If you are looking for something really cool and unique then this is the Camera for you - it might be the most expensive out the three but it offers the best picture resolution and is fully rechargeable without the need for extra batteries.

This is a great Childrens Digital Camera and a must for any lego mad child! While it may not be as good as the Vtech Digital Camera in our eyes it does push it all the way! The only thing holding it back is the price as it is slightly more expensive than the Vtech and you dont get all the features the Vtech camera offers such as games and the like.

This is a great camera and is ideal for toddlers and preschool children. Although the image quality isn't as good as the Vtech Childrens Digital Camera it is still adequate for a young child to play with and have lots of fun with and if you are planning on taking 640 x 480 prints off the camera the image quality is lost anyway as 640 x 480 prints equate to 0.3 megapixels (300,000 pixels).

Also Its so simple to use they wont have any trouble playing with it and they will play with it for months and months to come!

It has a 2 megapixel resolution for pictures so each photo looks great, it can even take video and has a built in flash. It comes with 256 MB of storage which means it can store up to 500 photos plus it has the option for adding more memory through an SD card slot however we feel 500 photos is plenty. If you are looking to record videos then you may need to add extra memory but in most cases the internal memory is more than enough.

This is a great product for children to learn with aswell as have a lot of fun as you can add effects to pictures and even play games on it! When your child is done taking pictures you can hook it up to the TV and see all the photos and videos on the big screen.
